Our Club wakes today still reeling from the tragic & devastating news of the sudden and unexpected passing of our defensive colossus Brendan "Benny" Reilly (RIP).
Naomh Mairtin Club, Community & Benny's Teammates extend our deepest & heartfelt sympathies to his gorgeous Family, wife Lisa & children Saoirse, Amy & Harry as well as Benny's extended Reilly Family, Friends, Teammates & Colleagues.
Benny's on-field football qualities are widely recognised & admired by his Clubs & Teammates of Naomh Mairtin, John Mitchells & Louth but Benny was more than a footballer & his cheeky smile, dry wit, lust for life were equally infectious to all that had the pleasure of being in his company.
In the last number of years Benny became involved with some of our Club's Juvenile Teams, together with some of his Club teammates & close friends, where it is no coincidence that his qualities & knowledge have resulted in these young players developing the commitment, drive & determination we all remember so fondly of our dear friend.
Benny recently commented "Extract the best out of yourself and make something special happen" - well Benny we will forever remember how you most certainly lived that statement and your young charges on our U13/14s are doing so also. Ar Dhéis Dé go raibh a Anam.
